Brand new website for YCN launched

A brand new website for YCN was launched recently, which has been re-architected and re-designed to house the previously separate 72 Rivington Street, Awards, and Agency websites under one, unified design. It was architected and developed by kulör, and designed in-house by YCN.

What we’ve been up to this October…

I'm very conscious that I haven't updated the journal in a while, so it's very much like we've been doing absolutely nothing at all! So here's a quick update on what kulör is doing...

First up is a new website for the R&D division of global architectural firm, Aedas, to showcase their incredible work within computational design and advanced modelling (the lovely image above is from one of their projects). Other than this we have been experimenting with Shopify: one of the easiest yet powerful e-commerce platforms available. We're designing and developing a site for a new watch business, who aim to sell a range of unusual contemporary and vintage watches on the system.

As ever, there's a lot going on within YCN too: I won't say much about it right now, but expect some exciting updates soon. We're working with London design agency Thomas Matthews to redevelop their website to coincide with the launch of their handsome and very clever new identity. Related to this, we're also helping Three Trees Don't Make a Forest with a brand new website. Three Trees is a not-for-profit social enteprise set up by Sophie Thomas of Thomas Matthews, Nat Hunter of Airside, and Caroline Clark of As Lovely as a Tree.

Also as siteInspire goes from strength to strength, we're busy extending its functionality to make it more interesting to use. Since it's more of a labour of love rather than a profit making enterprise, updates are a little slow but the new additions should be nice. Finally, work has started on a very interesting yet currently top secret (!) new web application. My mouth is closed...

We'll be back in November with another update.

Greengaged 2009 at the Design Council

Greengaged is a not for profit organisation founded in 2008 by Sophie Thomas from thomas.matthews, Sarah Johnson from Re Design and Anne Chick from The Sustainable Design Research Centre at Kingston University (pictured above). For this year's series of talks, workshops, and other special events on the theme of design and sustainability, taking place soon to coincide with The London Design Festival.

We designed and developed a new website that will act as a scalable platform for Greengaged's ongoing activities, both in the UK and abroad, including China. You can read more about the website by visiting the case study.

Make sure you take a look at the events organised by Greengaged by visiting the events section of the website.

YCN commendations now online

A section dedicated to the commendations for this year's YCN Student Awards is now live, and can be viewed on YCN's website. You can view all the commendations, or the filter by brief. The image above was taken at the launch-party for YCN's new "A is for Awards" scheme, held at Village Underground.
